Unassisted Childbirth

Safety Article - I apologize if you are offended by the nude portrait on the site I linked to, but the information is good.
I am enamored with the idea of unassisted childbirth. I want to be a midwife, because UC is not for everyone, but I go back and forth on how I feel about UC for me someday. So I thought I'd use this as a forum, what do you think?

I'd love it, and if my last 2 births are any indication I'm a perfect candidate...but I would want to live in an area that was quite close to a hospital in case something came up that I couldn't fix on my own. My ideal: don't use the medical establishment unless it's needed, but if you do need help, get it and be grateful!!

the H would NEVER approve of a HB, much less UC. He watches me like a hawk the last month before my DD to make sure I'm not going to walk out of the bathroom with a baby one day.

We should get yours and mine together. He's the bigger proponent of homebirth. When we were dating he was like "I think it'd be really awesome if my kids were born at home. I mean obviously that would be entirely your decision, since I'm not the one pushing them out, but do you think you might want to look into it?"

I should add he wants a midwife at our first birth until we make sure everything goes okay. But any subsequent births he's comfortable if we go with UC, assuming of course the 1st one goes smoothly.
